Hey, have you heard the news?
I have a new website! It's called Cash and Joy and its mission is to increase the awesomeness of the world - of course - through glorious and meaningful marketing.

Why did I focus on marketing? Because marketing can be the most fun and meaningful activity of your business instead of the most dreaded and icky... if you do it right.

1. Look at your content aggregators: your email, Twitter, feed reader, journal. Note which newsletters, feeds, updates and such that you always skip over or file in the “no, later, totally” folder.

2. Unsubscribe from them.

Many thanks to Stacey from The Studio Source for the inspiration! I’ve gotten rid of three newsletters I automatically delete as they come in.

What have you trimmed, and do you feel better for having done it? Tell us in the comments!

Throwing-out parties always clear my head. Thanks for the shout out, Catherine. Love these 5-minute missions.

Thanks Catherine. I just unsubscribed from two newsletters, which are not so valuable are they used to be.

It's my pleasure! I'm busy unpacking from the house move and you're right… chucking out stuff really clears the head.

Did they degrade, or did you just move past the point where they're helpful?

That's an interesting distinction, isn't it?

I've stopped reading Lifehacker mostly, but I'm trying to figure out whether it's because the quality *has* degraded, or I've just hoovered up their delicious common sense over the last couple of years, so all that's visible to my hungry brain now is BUILD A LAPTOP STAND USING TWO STARBUCKS VENTE TAKEAWAY COFFEE CUPS!

Personally, I find Lifehacker really repetitive. But maybe I was already too awesome when I found it? :)

I suspect this may well be the case, Catherine. ;-)

That being said, Gina Trapani seems like an awesome person, and is friends with Merlin Mann, who seems like a constant fresh breeze of sarcastic common sense.
