Hey, have you heard the news?
I have a new website! It's called Cash and Joy and its mission is to increase the awesomeness of the world - of course - through glorious and meaningful marketing.

Why did I focus on marketing? Because marketing can be the most fun and meaningful activity of your business instead of the most dreaded and icky... if you do it right.

Review: Blogger Beats

It’s Review Thursday, where I tell you about the nifty stuff that people send me for free nowadays. This time the links aren’t affiliate ones, for reasons that will become pretty obvious later on.

Nathan Hangen is an unconventional thinker. He’s always thinking outside the box, scorning the blazed trail and heading off to make new roads of his own. It’s fascinating to watch him.

Yet another example of his original bent of mind is Blogger Beats, twice-weekly episodes of electronic music, motivation and business ideas – for bloggers. I bet you’re thinking the same thing I was: I would never have thought of that idea in a thousand years. Fascinating

What it sounds like

Oleg Mokhov produces 30-minute (or so) electronic tracks. I’m going to describe them as energetic trance, which is probably completely wrong and will get me thrown out of the Electronic Music Appreciators Club forever. You can download those tracks by themselves and listen to them while working, and while I’m not per se a big fan of the music style they are really great for some things and playing in the background while I write is definitely one of them. It’s like musical sorbet: brain-refreshing tunes that leave no aftertaste.

You can also listen to the main track, which also includes about five minutes of Nathan at the beginning and another couple at the end. Remember how I said he’s an original thinker? He can pack a LOT of inspiration into those few minutes. Some of it is motivational, get-your-eyes-on-the-prize thoughts, and the rest is new or unconventional business ideas. The track on Simplicity includes the idea of becoming a distribution platform and why you should consider it. If you don’t walk away with your brain fizzing you really aren’t trying.

How much is it?

The first week is free, then it’s $9 a month. This is a no-brainer sort of price if you find the music suits you while writing.

Go sign up for the free trial and give it a go, at least. If Nathan and Oleg’s style suit you, then this is a cheap and super-effective asset.

This sounds like a really intresting services. I find that a repetitive beat really calms my hyperactive mind when I’m writing.

Friskyradio.com and techno.fm are doing me right so far though

Wow, thanks for such a quick and honest review!

You pegged me right, and I love it :)

We’re actually using the feedback from things like this to venture into other genres and niches, such as for workouts, etc. We’re hoping that people embrace both the music and the message in a way that works for them.

We both love creating it, and I hope it shines through.

    Thanks!

Nathan–you are so creative and multi-task-ed! I love how you think outside the box and inspire. Too bad I have next-to-no stimulas barrier, and am distracted by the slightest sensation…sounds like a great biz venture-Congrats!

The beats AND the ideas are a great combo.

You’re very welcome! You’ve put out an interesting and VERY reasonably-priced service that meets needs. Two thumbs up! :)

Gosh, that sounds tricksy. Do you use earphones to drown out noise?

That’s a smart idea, a variation on the old guided-meditation-over-bed-music idea by the sounds of it.

I can imagine an upbeat track with a sergeant-major type yelling at you for exercise, too.

I pretty much only listen to classical music, and not while I work, so I’m not the target market for this. But both the idea and the business model are very clever indeed.

If I could drown out noise, I’d be the happiest, most productive person on the planet. I listen to music quite often, but not while tasking. I work with teens who are generally plugged into the iPhone, computer, TV, and mobile simultaneously…I’m almost envious!

“It’s like musical sorbet: brain-refreshing tunes that leave no aftertaste”. I’d like some strawberry-lemon please :)

Seriously, this is an awesome example of innovation.

I think the money is worthwhile just for Nathan’s ideas. He’s a real innovator.

    Very clever indeed!

Thanks Catherine, I really appreciate that!

Well, it’s a blessing and a curse :) You only hear about the ideas that worked, but that’s OK, I’m trying to inspire not through words, but through action. Thanks for being part of the ride.

Hi Catherine, I’m a huge fan of Blogger Beats and your review is spot on, especially how Nathan manages to pack a lot of inspiration into minutes! I adore the music and play it when writing too.

“Musical sorbet..” I love that. :)
