Hey, have you heard the news?
I have a new website! It's called Cash and Joy and its mission is to increase the awesomeness of the world - of course - through glorious and meaningful marketing.

Why did I focus on marketing? Because marketing can be the most fun and meaningful activity of your business instead of the most dreaded and icky... if you do it right.

Monday and meanderings

Hola, dearests!

So it’s Monday and according to the new system I’m not writing a real post. Instead, I’ll be directing you to an old favourite, and adding a few minutes of rambling because all my other posts are structured (really, they are!) and I love to let the stream of consciousness flow sometimes. This sounds fun!

Firstly, the blast from the past:

How to offer to do a guest post.

In other news:

Did you know that we had an election two days ago and we still don’t know who won it? Neither of the major parties have so far claimed enough seats in Parliament for victory. I really feel for the poor politicians and their loved ones and staff, because some have to wait another couple of days while the postal votes get counted. I would lose my shit if I had five days of waiting about something that important, while still appearing on TV regularly.

Also, non-Australians… are your polling booths generally held at primary (grade?) schools and church halls? Ours are, and that generally means two things:

  • sausages in a bun (with onion, of course)
  • cake stalls

Yum, the taste of democracy.

The cake stall seems to be losing some of the stunning range and grandeur of my younger years. More young people need to start baking, dammit! I want my coconut ice!

In other other news, I adore adore adore this site that makes time-zone conversion simple. I suck at time-zones.

Oh, and the wonderful Patty did a spiffy video on the difference between shy and introverted. She’s wrong about one key fact: at least one person who is fearless and extroverted watched it. (You know, me.)

Important update:

I’m doing another fun run with Troy! (I know, it’s madness, it’s like I’ve become healthy or something.) In a week I’ll be doing the Bridge to Brisbane 10KM walk. Fantastically, after you climb the big-ass bridge at the start, all the rest is flat. I approve.

Okay, actually important update:

Now I am going to be doing some work on the Official Day Off today, but only because I really want to release the shiny new thing on the imaginary deadline I set for it, which is tomorrow. Remember, people on the Advanced Awesomeness list will get special extra stuff and the first dibs! (Do other countries use the phrase “first dibs”? I bet most of Britain does. Not sure about elsewhere.)

Also, I’ll be doing my first ever teleclass about why people buy your art with Tara in just a few days. Wheee!

Your delightful Australianism for the day:

Fair suck of the sav, mate!

I’m not going to tell you what it means. I think this increases the mystery.

Natalie uses the word bosh quite a lot, which is both very English and very adorable. I want to start using it, as soon as it sounds even vaguely natural coming out of my mouth.

Have you ever had that thing where you yawn and your mouth decides to turn on the sprinklers? I’m sorry, stuff on my desk.

And now, breakfast!

Adieu!

I know we use first dibs where I live quite a bit :) Looking forward to seeing what your releasing once your imaginary deadline has come to pass ;) That bit of Aussie talk sounds..well, racy for some reason LOL I like it, I don’t care what it means! Hope you’re week is off to a great start! Mine starts with the beginning of a blog challenge…I am so looking forward to doing all 31 days of it (with weekends off!)

I’ve lived in the northeast, northwest and southwest of the US, and “first dibs” was used everywhere. What is a dib, anyway, and do English-speaking people planetwide want the first ones? Another way it’s used is to simply cry, “Dibs!” when you want something before anyone else. Do they say that in Australia, too?

And now I’m not sure if I’m on your first dibs list…somehow I think I failed to ever sign up. Will correct that, to avoid losing out on dibs.

    Enjoyed your ramblings. :)

Screw the politicians, *I’m* losing *my* shit over this election. I’m terrified of what might happen and the suspense is killing me. Also, I totally agree that cake stalls are losing their shine. Must be a nation-wide problem. There was nothing of interest at the polling booth we went to (and we went specifically because someone said there would be a stall) and I was so disappointed that I went home and made my own gorram peppermint crisp slice. (Best part was licking the condensed milk spoon, haven’t done that in years.)

What does ‘bosh’ mean? Put it in a sentence for us?

Others have already filled you in on the “Dibs!” situation, so I’ll comment on the fact that your “day off” blog is just as meaty as any on-the-clock post. Isn’t it fascinating how much you have to say when you set out not to say anything? I have to keep reminding myself to approach my own blog that way – Hey guys, just here to say nothing much! – but I haven’t made good on it. I still get stuck on the “I have nothing to write today” thought.

We’ve got the church halls and school, but no food. :( Boo, us. Also, loving “yawn sprinkler”.

Dibs travel widely and have many friends, it would seem. :)

Imaginary deadline is done! There is liveness!

Good luck with the blog challenge. :)

Stupid racking fracking election. Making everyone all stressed!

Condensed milk spoon? Oh man, WANT. May have to make caramel slice this arvo now.

Bosh seems to be one of those, “Shazam” kind of words. I make the cake, I eat a slice and bosh! Feel great.

    (This needs more work.)

    Hee. :)

It was soooo freeing! There is so much stuff I self-edit to keep the regular posts on track.

Let the stream of consciousness flow!
