Do you want to grow an awesome website?
Hi! I'm a drawing of Catherine. She does most of the writing here, including this blurb. (Does this count as writing in the third person?) Catherine believes that websites don't really run on technology, they run on emotions. If you agree, then she wants to help you rock it out and be awesome online.

Do the icky stuff

We’ve all got tasks that we put off. They’re so embarrassing (or boring or smelly or frustrating or icky or scary or money-related) that we cringe just thinking about them. They’re always pushed to the absolute bottom of the to-do list. So on top of the dread of the task, we end up with a painful emotion sundae: a bowl of dread with shame fudge, sprinkled with guilt and adorned with a nagging-internal-voice cherry. Yum.

Pure Beauty :p

For today’s mission we need to spend just 5 minutes on the icky stuff. Set an alarm clock and work it as hard as you can, no more excuses. By the time the bell goes, you’ll have a weight off your shoulders and at least one much-delayed job finished. It might feel so good to have the damn thing gone that you do another one…

I just love “a bowl of shame fudge”! That was a great image to jolt me into doing TWO icky chores. Thanks

Would you believe me if I told you I have no icky chores? But there is one thing I'm putting off because it might be tricky and involves playing with the coding. It's 1.30am here so I can't do it now but I promise I'll give it a try tomorrow. Feel free to remind me ;)

I sorrowfully did not follow this yesterday and had to say “I am sooooo sorry” – several times. Yikes!

That's okay, you've still got today (and tomorrow) to get stuff done. How about doing one now and seeing how it goes?

Well, my students loans were late, and there was a whole mess to be straightened out, which was totally icky, so I avoided doing it. (Word of advice, don't be late with your student loans!) So I had to spend several hours on the phone straightening out their mess, but I finally made my payment.

AND I finally cleared out the “to take care of (eventually)” folder in my email inbox. Some stuff had been in there so long, I figured why bother, and deleted it. But I got through the rest and for the first time in months, it's totally empty. That feels great!

Those are two GREAT things to have done and off your mind. I bet today will be more creative as a result!

Well technically, it's not tomorrow for another 54 minutes because technically, I wrote that in the wee hours of today (Feb 3rd). However, I'm really just using that as an excude because I had a meeting and so haven't tackled any icky stuff yet. Hubby goes to work early tomorrow so I promise, promise, promise I'll give it a go then.

Thanks for the reminder. Much appreciated :D

It's been a tricky one. But yes, I've done one bit of yucky stuff ;)
