Hey, have you heard the news?
I have a new website! It's called Cash and Joy and its mission is to increase the awesomeness of the world - of course - through glorious and meaningful marketing.

Why did I focus on marketing? Because marketing can be the most fun and meaningful activity of your business instead of the most dreaded and icky... if you do it right.

Check your links

If your website is more than 3.875 seconds old, you’ll likely have at least one out-of-date link – a link that used to point to a page on another website (or on yours) but the page has moved, or the website has closed down, and so when you click on it all you get is an error. These dead links make your website look dated and unprofessional. Let’s get this fixed!

1. Set a timer for three minutes and go to any page on your website that includes links. Start opening those links in another window; make a note of any that no longer work. Finished a page and there’s still time left? Go to another page and repeat!

2. Spend the next couple of minutes updating to correct addresses (if you can), or removing the links.

Do you have a tool that you recommend using for quickly doing this across an entire site?

There are loads of free ones. A search for “free link checker” will bring loads.

I recommend the LinkChecker add-on for Firefox because it's simple and doesn't require a large download.

    Thank you :)
